The Venice Beach Bar – Venice

The only beach-front venue with a panoramic perspective from our comfy second floor window-side perch. No better place to take in the vast Pacific, spectacular sunsets or the non-stop reality show that is the Venice Beach Boardwalk.

Built in 1922, this now landmark structure gave rise to the Beat Generation, a group of artists referred to as “Holy Barbarians” who came to Venice to find the peace that escaped them elsewhere. They wrote and recited poetry, embraced jazz as their new musical anthem and created a movement which spawned the Bohemian culture for which Venice, has become renown. This venue sheltered the likes of groundbreaking authors such as Jack Kerouac, Charles Bukowski and Allen Ginsberg. Jim Morrison started here and it was on this very boardwalk that The Doors were formed. Then came “Dogtown,” Venice’s nickname, so named by the world’s first skateboarders, a tradition that continues to this day.

Our rich history is only outshone by the beauty of the Pacific Ocean and its sandy beach. We are proud to be the sole live music venue on the entire boardwalk, with not only a full bar, but also the only restaurant with a 2nd-floor view of “Silicon Beach” and the stream of colorful passersby, often lovingly referred to as “The Circus.”
